SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced Thursday a sponsorship agreement with Holston Gases, which will serve as the title sponsor for the league’s 2017 baseball tournament. The Holston Gases Southern Conference Baseball Championship will be played May 23-28 at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
The deal continues an affiliation between the SoCon and Holston Gases, which was a sponsor for the SoCon Basketball Championships presented by General Shale last season. The baseball sponsorship pact runs through the 2016-17 academic year with an option for additional years.
“We’re very happy to welcome Holston Gases as the title sponsor of our baseball championship in Greenville next May,” SoCon Commissioner John Iamarino said. “We’ve gotten to know their personnel over the past year with their involvement in our basketball tournament, and they’re good people representing a sound company with a long history of service. We think it’s a good fit.”
Holston Gases supplies industrial, medical, propane and beverage gases. Founded in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1958, the company now boasts 30 locations in seven states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.
“We are looking forward to our expanded sponsorship of the Southern Conference and its championship events,” Holston Gases branch manager Randy McKinney said. “We have been supporting the SoCon basketball tournament in Asheville since its return in 2012. The 2017 Holston Gases SoCon Baseball Championship in Greenville, South Carolina, will give us the opportunity to expand our presence in the Upstate, one of our key growth markets.”
